Apparantly, according to my brother who is a walking DVD database, the show is going to come out on DVD. I had such a nostalgic overflow watching the clips from the show. It's true, I lived in a somewhat remote area, down a long road and down another long lane. I was the Little Boy who lived down the lane. Anyway, there wasn't a convenient neighborhood gang in site. So I would be home from school and at 6:30 just before or after dinner (I can't remember which) I would watch the show. Here are some of my memories of ZOOM:
- One of my favorite Zoomers was Lori. She was the one who did a backflip in the opening song. She just seemed so much like friends I had and I truly felt a friendship connection through the TV with her. It's funny, the show was so real that I bet every kid who watched the show had the same feelings and attachments. What made it sad though was when the older Zoomers would have to leave and be replaced by new Zoomers. I remember when the day came that Lori left. I actually cried. I remember they sang, “So Long It's Been Good To Know Ya” and then as each of the old Zoomers left in grand fanfare, the new ones came in singing a “How do ya do” song.
- I had a crush on Danny. Watching the clip made me realize this and remember this. It was strange. When I would try to remember the guys I had crushes on growing up, his face was in there but I couldn't place him. Then I saw the clip and remembered... once again, you really felt like you knew these guys.
- I don't know if David was gay or not, but whether or not he was, I felt that he was, sensed it and watching him play and interact, made me realize I wasn't alone in the world. Long before I probably even knew what being gay was all about.
- I thought that Nina was one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen.
- I thought Joe was hysterically funny. I used to tape record the show and on one of the tapes I have, Joe is doing a skit and is cracking up and you can hear me laughing too.
