A legitimate dancer, having trained in ballet, the legs were kicking to the ceiling. This seven foot tall sensation performed at Davenports last night and WAY too many people missed it. It was a privilege to be one of the twenty or so people in attendance.
I loved the music. Go go 60's fun and with the Davenports stage sans piano, it was just Edie, the boards and lighting used to it's best advantage. Although Edie kept commenting when she would hit a dark spot on the stage. Very funny.
The musical arrangements were done by a one man band, all recorded and layered with vocals. The show began with Edie's theme song and then she appeared to sing “Gotcha” from Liza with a Z. Awesome. Such stage presence and a smile to light up most of downtown Chicago.
And these legs... to make every woman just pissed off. Serious gams. Fun 60's micro mini dresses and the great blob of 60's hair.
Check out her website and hopefully someday soon you can catch a performance. (She is based in New York)
