No, seriously, I'm not going...
In the worst most unbelievable movie about hollywood, on the biggest night the breakout star is yet to have, the one who was cast aside, the Baby Jane, the Eve Harrington would do anything she could to steal the spotlight to the point of actually standing outside of the Oscar ceremony and try to outshine her nemesis.
Well, that actually HAPPENED.
Because it's Oscar day I had E! on and from the other room, I heard Jennifer Holiday start singing “And I Am Telling You...” I ran into the room and sat before the tv. “What is this?” I thought. I thought she was outside in New York at first. But no... when was this filmed? Oh wait, look down in the corner of the tv screen. The word... “live.”
At that moment, Ms. Holliday was standing above the street in front of the Cinegrille marquee, (where she is performing for “One Night Only”) across the street from Graumans Chinese Theatre and she was singing the song.
One rarely gets to see such a moment on live television.
She sang it, sure, she did her thing with the song and the wind was blowing all over the place and the fourteen people below her waiting for the bus had no idea what was going on.
Ryan Seacrest did. He was interviewing her. He was pretending like he had never heard of Dreamgirls before the movie came out. He was pretending like he didn't have ANY of her records. (Hee hee)
Sure, Jen said she was very excited for the other Jen and the she was glad that EFFIE was going to the Oscars. Not Jennifer Hudson, the character Effie that she co-owned with her. She actually said that.
Sigh. I love showbiz.
