And apparantly she is here to STAY!

As a follow up to my blurb about Jennifer Holliday (below) I want to give the other Jennifer her due. I was going to wait to hear her rendition of “And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going” until I saw the film but I couldn't hold out. I listened to it from the movie soundtrack “and I am telling you” it is UNBELIEVABLE. What is interesting is that because the original Effie, Ms. Holliday seems to have her nose bent, makes it all the more inviting for the new Effie to shine. (Bad move Ms. Holliday). Jennifer is clearly inspired vocally by the original Effie and comparing the two, alot of the musical riffs that have become cemented as part of the song were obviously created by Holliday. My review of the performance then for this song is to say that it is JUST as good. It gives you the same goosebumps you felt when you first heard Holliday sing it. Clearly, it would be a major dissapointment if this song didn't get just treatment. It does and thank heavens for Ms. Hudson. We NEED artists like her. She apparantly is as good an actress as she is a singer and is nominated (already) for a Golden Globe. I cannot WAIT to see the movie.
