What's the point?

The more I think of the things that are in the news, the more I wonder, “why?”
I can understand escapism. There is so much horrific news regarding the war, that people want an escape hatch, a diversion. But instead of having something positive and calming and uplifting, we get these ridiculous stories about Paris and Isaiah Washington (who is simply just an asshole... that is why you were fired) and all the crap in the tabloids that hang out like whores at the check out stands. The fact that interviewers like Walters and King even WANT to interview vapid Paris Hilton, that we even have to be put through her creative writing that according to King is “extraordinary” is allowing the sores to fester. The sores that are the disease of negativity that prevails in this country. The positive things are out there, the good news, the uplifting news... but you have to FIND it. I don't want to have to find it. This isn't an easter egg hunt (and I always thought Easter was weird anyway)... I want to be assaulted by GOOD NEWS. (And I don't mean the musical... well, maybe...)
Speaking of musicals, Jason and I will be seeing “Grey Gardens!” on his birthday in New York, which is VERY good news.
