Random Sunday Morning Thoughts...

We have been busy getting our house ready for summer and especially for the visiting of Jason's family this week. We had crown moulding put up in the entry way and the hall. It looks VERY nice. Noe, our carpenter and his assistant did a great job.

Parker is as cute as ever and getting bigger every day. But he still has his baby meow. It's interesting to see a cat grow from kitten-hood. I totally understand how a parent feels when their children get bigger... when I look at pictures of Parker as a four month old, I think... “sigh, that little kitty is gone and I will never see him again...” But then whenever I look at Parker, I think he will always be a baby to me.

The weather these last couple of days has been great... a bit humid, but great. The nights are wonderful. Sheesh... don't I have anything better to write about than the weather?

I think I am just writing because I am trying to wake up. I have to go in the hallway and paint the crown moulding glossy white to match the base-boards. I love construction. We have two construction projects in our neighborhood that I am keeping my eye on. It's fun to see the progress. First of all, across the alley a two flat brownstone is being given an over-haul. First of all, out with the old. The inhabitants moved and there was a lot of junk in the alley. Once that cleared, then it was time to gut the building. And they seriously gutted it. It looked like a giant doll house because the entire back of the building was open. How fun to be able to decide where all the rooms would go. We aren't sure whether the new owner is making it into two apartments or just one big house. THAT would be totally cool.
The carpenters and masoners have been building the garage from scratch. But to make it look old, they used bricks from the building and it looks great, you would never know that it was built just the other day.

The other construction job is in the heart of our little neighborhood. On the corner of Granville and Broadway they are building an enormous condo building that will also have several new stores on the main level. Rumor has it that a Trader Joes is going in. We HOPE so. Although I think I would rather have a Whole Foods... but Trader Joes will do just fine. How convenient it will be to come home, get off the train and be able to pop in and pick up something for dinner. Also, I hear a Staples is going in there too. Being the planner junkie, I just about passed out when I heard that one. Now to complete the scenereo I would like an Old Navy or a Gap. We shall see what happens.

Ok, gotta go paint...
