We are making curtains today! Curtains and even more involved... roman shades! If my Mom is reading this, we were going to have you help us but we couldn't wait. (My Mom spends six months out of the year with my Dad and brother in California.)
We went to IKEA and got the fabric and then we got a new sewing machine. A very nice one, much better than the one Jason had. The old one is a Bernina from the 70's. The girl at Joanne Fabric actually referred to it as an antique. I had to keep quiet.
But the new one is much lighter. That is how you tell the difference between something from today and from any year before 1986. Everything before then was heavy! My mom has the first microwave she ever purchased out in the garage. It is HUGE and weighs eighteen tons.
TV's... old ones are HEAVY! Heavy and awkward too.
Any computer equipment ridiculously heavy.
A box of records compared to a box of CD's. Records are the heaviest of all. We almost killed a mover once having him carry up about twenty or so boxes of records up a flight of stairs. He seriously almost passed away right in front of us. He was sweating profusely and was bleary eyed, almost crying or maybe that was his forehead sweat puddling in his eyes...
As America get's heavier, all of our stuff get's lighter. And then we sit down on it and break it because we are all so fat and heavy.
Also, when we were at the fabric store, we were talking about the VERY old sewing machines that used a big peddle to make it work. Not a stitch of electricity. (Pun intended).
Can you imagine how toned your great grandmothers legs must have been? (Or for some of you your great great grandmother.... put in as many greats that are needed...) Now you don't have to do anything. The only part of our leg that gets toned is maybe the front ball of your foot and your big toe. And we all know who nice it looks to have a toned toe. Does anybody have a FAT toe?
Thank you for putting up with my ADD dumpage. If in fact you have made it this far into this blog entry. If you haven't gotten this far, then now is the time to type behind your back. You know, those who don't get to this part of the blog are really shallow and generally mean people. They have no patience! They probably lay on their horn most of the time and cough and shuffle when standing in any kind of line, Yes THOSE people... YOU however, making it through to this point in my blog entry. You are the wind beneath my wings. You are heaven sent and blessed and all that. Thanks!!!!
