a new look for my blog...

I was bored with the old look and so I tweaked a little here and there. It's kind of like my version of knitting.

My house is a mess. It looks like the set of a Sam Shepherd play. My office, you don't even want to know. I skyped a friend the other day and realized that he could see into my office and he asked me if I was a hoarder.

Am I a hoarder? I must admit that when I watch shows about hoarding on television, I can hear distant bells ringing. This tells me that I have the tendency to hoard. I have saved a lot of things. I look to my left and there stacked on top of a cabinet are ALL the journals I have ever had. Parker likes to sit on top of them. I like that he sits on top of them. It's a high perch.

To my right is an Ikea pet bed shaped like a flower with my teenage daughter George sleeping in it. George as you might know is my fourteen year old girl cat. We have been through a lot together.

But I DO hoard. Ok, I admit it. I come from a family that hoards. Yes, Dad you reading this, let's just admit it. We have LOTS of stuff. Don't even get me started on my younger brother Paul.

There are plus sides to hoarding... I can see what I wrote on my eighth grade notebook and laugh. Cherish those eighth grade memories. I can rifle through every cassette tape I ever taped upon. Even if I don't have the equipment anymore to listen or watch them. I KNOW that there is stuff on those tapes and when I see them, I remember them.

Someone once said that instead of keeping all this junk you should just take pictures of it. Document it for yourself, put it in a scrapbook... NOT TOO MANY SCRAPBOOKS MIND YOU and throw or give it away.

I have always admired the paperless office.
I have also admired sky diving and the Taj Mahal.

And that is just about where I shall end this entry.
